Greg Hardeman, born and raised in West Portal, attended elementary and high school in San Francisco, experiencing both private and public education. He hails from a strong union family deeply rooted in San Francisco, with his mother being a Ukrainian refugee born in Shanghai, China. Greg is a 4th generation San Franciscan on his departed father’s side, who was a 40+ year labor leader and activist.

His career began in 2001 as an elevator apprentice, eventually graduating as an elevator mechanic. With 8 years of experience as a Union Organizer and Labor Chair for the Apprenticeship Program, Greg currently serves as the Business Representative/Recording Secretary for IUEC (International Union of Elevator Constructors) Local 8. He has spent 16 years with the San Francisco Building & Construction Trades Council, held a 15-year tenure on the San Francisco Labor Council, and was elected as an ADEM in 2023.

As a 21-year card-carrying union member, labor leader, and lifelong proud Democrat, Greg has tirelessly knocked on countless doors, engaged in weeks-long phone banking, organized worksite visits, and recruited numerous members and activists. His efforts aim to encourage individuals to vote for candidates dedicated to giving a voice to all working people and marginalized communities.
